2008 Calendar of Events

An Evening at Adena, Murder Mystery Dinner, June 27 & 28, 5:30-8:00 PM    A murder has been committed at Adena!  You are invited to join us to solve Chillicothe’s fictional “crime of the (19th) century.”  Guests will enjoy a catered dinner, and actors portraying key participants will present evidence in the case at the “scene of the crime” and other important locations on the estate. Nonmembers, $40; OHS members $32. Reservations required. 740/772-1500 x 100 or 800/319/7248.

Pioneer Day, July 26, 9:30 AM-5:00 PM    Step back in time to an era before refrigeration and air conditioning to learn how the various residents of Adena – the Worthingtons, tenant farmers, and servants – kept cool in the early 19th century.  Demonstrations of historic farm tasks and crafts will be featured.  Make a souvenir of the day, tour the historic gardens, and shop in the Ohio History Store.  Adults $8; students $4; OHS members free.

Story Time at Adena, August 15, 10:00 AM (grades K-3) & 1:00 PM (grades 4-6)   Children will hear tales of Ohio’s pioneers told by costumed storytellers.  There will be hands-on activities as well.  Each child will receive a “History Can Be Fun” packet.  Adults, $7; children $5; OHS member adults free, children $1.  Reservations required.  740/772-1500 x 102.
