Adena was the home of Thomas Worthington and is an important historic asset to Ohio and all Ohioans. Thomas Worthington was Ohio's first U.S. senator, sixth governor and is known as the "Father of Ohio Statehood." His beautiful home in Chillicothe, finished in 1807, is a premier example of the Georgian style of architecture. The estate grounds, reflecting gardening practices of the era, are enhanced by formal gardens, vegetable gardens and a fruit orchard; the view from the summit overlooks Mt. Logan, the inspiration for the Great Seal of Ohio. |
